Chelsea reopen talks to sign Benfica's Enzo Fernandez

Premier League giants Chelsea have, on Sunday, entered back into negotiations with their counterparts at Benfica, in a bid to bring chief transfer target Enzo Fernandez to the club before the month is out.
Midfield sensation Fernandez, of course, was hotly tipped for a move to west London earlier this month.
Amid the ongoing efforts of the powers that be at Stamford Bridge to secure much-needed reinforcements in the middle of the park, Fernandez, fresh off a breakout World Cup campaign with Argentina, was identified as a leading target.
Despite their evident willingness to spend big ahead of the 2nd half of the term, however, Chelsea, in the end, were simply unwilling to meet the demands of their counterparts at Benfica.
Fernandez, in turn, has since stayed put at the Estadio da Luz.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media late on Sunday is anything to go by, then Todd Boehly and co, evidently, have not yet given up hope of landing the 22-year-old.
As confirmed by a host of reliable sources, the Chelsea transfer team have reopened talks with Benfica over Fernandez's signature.
Not only that, but it is understood that the Blues are now willing to cough up the full EUR120 million required to activate his release clause.
Though Benfica remain adamant that the club's crown jewel will be going nowhere this month, a transfer, in turn, could yet be forthcoming before Tuesday's fast-approaching transfer deadline.
